During the 1970's Andy was working in Port Talbot steelworks as a fully qualified fitter/turner and in his spare time would repair all his colleagues cars. He was constantly told that he should consider doing it as a living and in 1981 opened his own garage in his home village of Killay to serve the local village. After being more inundated with work he realised he had to move to a bigger premises and employ more staff to cope with how successfully his business was becoming so in 1983 he purchased an ex heavy goods haulage yard in the nearby village of dunvant which is where we still operate from today.
Established in 1981 within the busy village of Killay, Andy Davey Motor Services soon expanded by moving to a larger premises in nearby Dunvant to cater for it's growing base of trade and public customers who were getting accustomed to top quality service with their car repairs. Word soon spread about how Andy would treat their car as if it were his own by only carrying out work that was necessary, within a realistic budget and that the repairs that were carried out were guaranteed to last. Fast forward over 30 years and you will find this ethos is still No.1 priority at Andy Davey Motor Services as you'll find the staff (many of whom are still here from the early days) have been trained into carrying on this successful business approach.
With the motor industry and vehicle systems changing so quickly, Andy recognised from an early age that to be a successful car repairing garage there would be a need for continuous training for his staff to keep up to date with the latest in car technology. Alongside this, Andy has invested tens of thousands of pounds in the latest state of the art computer equipment and tools to enable his staff to quickly diagnose and repair any car that is presented to us.
